VESTIGE / Care 925 sterling silver / 18k gold & rose gold vermeil

Made to be worn.

Sterling silver responds to wear, atmosphere and time. Gold and rose gold vermeil are more settled but their surface is still a finish to be looked after. Considered care preserves the intended contrast between brushed and polished surfaces on both.

A simple practice

Wear, clean and store with intention.

After wear

Wipe the piece gently with a clean, soft and dry cloth before storing it.

Cleaning

When needed, wash briefly with lukewarm water and a small amount of mild soap. Rinse thoroughly and dry completely with a soft cloth.

Storage

Store each piece separately in its pouch or box, in a cool and dry place away from direct sunlight and humidity.

Brushed, polished and gold surfaces

The finish is part of the form.

Abrasive polishing can soften a brushed surface and change the contrast of the design. Use a clean, soft cloth with light pressure. Avoid silver dips, toothpaste, baking soda and abrasive compounds. On gold and rose gold vermeil this matters more, not less: polishing compounds and silver dips will thin the gold layer. Wipe vermeil only, and never polish it.

Protect the surface

Remove before exposure.

  • Swimming pools and chlorine
  • Sea water and prolonged moisture
  • Fragrance, lotions and cosmetics
  • Household chemicals and cleaning products
  • Exercise, impact and abrasive surfaces

Natural change

Metal records its environment.

Tarnish is a natural surface reaction on silver and does not mean the metal is damaged. Vermeil does not tarnish in the same way, but the gold wears gradually with contact. If your piece needs deeper cleaning or the original finish restored, contact VESTIGE before using an intensive treatment.
